ABOUT THE FOUNDER

 

 

JOCELYN LUVETA

 

Hello there, my name is Jocelyn Luveta and I am the founder and main initiator of THE HOPE. I was compelled by the idea of a mission trip since I grew up in a strong Christian household. The idea, however, was always very premature and was something that I did not focus a lot on since I have been working hard at school as I aspire to one day become a doctor. To help the prospect of me becoming a doctor I joined The Medical Club that was hosted by a student in my school. That was when I got the idea for conducting a mission trip in conjunction with a medical team or at least some sort of medical help. This led me to talk to my friend, Young Min, about the idea of doing a medical-mission club. Since then, our plans have only been moving forward, and with the date for travelling to Ambon already set, we, here at THE HOPE foundation, are looking forward to serve the people of Ambon.

ABOUT THE CO-FOUNDER

 

 

YOUNG MIN CHOI

 

I am Young Min Choi and I am the co-founder of THE HOPE foundation. I was reeled into the idea of creating this student-led foundation because of how well my friend, Jocelyn, convinced me. Obviously, growing up in a country like Indonesia, I was aware that poverty was something that is quite normal around where I was living. The problem was that I was not aware of the full extent of problems ranging from a lack of basic human needs including healthcare. Also growing up in a Christian school, I have always wanted to serve the Indonesian people through a meaningful project. So when Jocelyn pitched the idea to me, I agreed to join and develop the idea because I felt that this was that best form of service that I could give. Now our foundation is working hard on gaining donations and have set a date for our medical mission trip. We will be leaving on the 14th of June and are very excited for the prospect of meeting and serving the people of Ambon.
